Is there any support groups available in north east England? Been suffering a lot of pain and just been told it’s fibromyalgia after 2.5 years of tests. Got sent a link for pain management and that’s it? I suffer nerve type pain all over body as well as throbbing pains in joints & tingling in legs. Is anyone else the same? Tried Amitriptaline but they just make me feel crap in morning and just help me sleep really. I felt so low that sometimes I just want to end it all. Would love some guidance.
Thanks

Hi maz20 I feel your pain! However I have felt a lot better since taking duloxetine. Please ask your doctor if you can try it. Honestly it’s helped me a lot. I’m only on a low dose it’s def worth a try. I don’t know if support groups are running at mo there used to be one in Newcastle would need to check since COVID . Hope you feel a bit better soon Linda
Hi Linda, thank you so much will have a look at that. I know nothing about this and the meds. Think I’ll be moving docs again in hope I find a one that’s going to help me.
Hello Maz20 , hopefully support groups will be up and running soon if not already , check your local Community Facebook to see if anyone can offer you some info, I too take duloxtene not only because of fibro pain but got so down and terrible anxiety , 4 years on I can honestly say for me personally it’s been a lifesaver. You could discuss this with your GP about trying something different and speak honestly how you are feeling right now , I stuck with it until I got the right help and sometimes I see the nurse practioner not always my GP. Take care xx
Hi Yassytina how do you Find the duloxtene. My GP mention last week to help with the pain and stress/anxiety I am suffering from. Was on amitriptaline but it did not do anything for me other than put on 2stone.
Was wondering if weight gain was a side effect of duloxtene as well. Can not afford to put on any more weight.
I eat a good healthy balance diet and run 3miles 4 days a week and do other exercise and still can’t shift the weight I gained while on amitrptaline.
Hi , I have put on weight but taking my age into consideration 59, then also giving up my regular swimming 3 times a week through fatigue properly has not helped, I am more in control now of how I am feeling and no anxiety 😀
Hi, we have a few groups registered with us in the North East. You can either email me on head.office@fmauk.org or the regional coordinator on RC.NorthEast@fmauk.org with your postcode and can check for your nearest
