Why did you come off citalopram?

I've taken it for 15 years

Citalopram worked wonders for the first few months.. but recently it felt as though i wasnt getting any benefits but suffering all the side effects. I was on sertryline before that but it gave me chronic wind, ibs and bloated stomach which were all very uncomfortable. GP did state it works for some but not all, i spose thats the case for all meds.

Interesting as I've never experienced any side effects from taking it. I did try coming off it once as I felt I didn't need it any more....my coping as a carer plummeted and my GP said stay on it!! Wise man!

if i ever could have 1 wish, it would be a nights sleep, waking refreshed and not as though ive been up all night doing a solo dance off, along with the occasional "keep still" thrown in by the wife...

Question for the day.....RLS, why the hell haven't i got muscles like an athlete??

LOL..Off for another jog whilst sitting down at a desk.......

Channel 5, UK, are showing a follow up programme at 10.15 this evening about restless leg syndrome, I don't have it but do understand how debilitating it is x

Hang in there darling. I was on both the above for a number of years. After a serious health scare and following surgery I decided to try and take control of my medications. I had a long discussion with my wonderful GP and she was so supportive. Came off the meds so slowly, the worst side effects didn’t occur until down to 5m of Citalopram when I got nasty nightmares, restless leg, Insomnia, hot sweaty flushes. The lack of sleep and rest made me difficult to live with, this lasted for nearly two months. I have now been medication free apart from a blood pressure tablet for almost a year and feel so much better in myself. It’s been worth it in my case, we are all different and really get others when they say they find it difficult to cope without them. If your feeling better in yourself keep trying, the side effects will pass darling. Good luck x
