Hi to all, I’ve been on this rollercoaster now for many years and have read all your individual circumstances but have never posted. I have been through 7 brutal rounds of IVF as an international satellite patient which is another level of hardship. I had my retrieval done a few days ago and no surprise most did not make it past day 1. (Not sure if this had anything to do with my low AMH which was barely above the lowest level with which the clinic will even attempt IVF.) At this point I don’t know if there will be enough for fresh transfer much less to freeze. I feel beyond anxious, worried and lost as this feels like my last hope/chance. Is there anyone here with success stories at age 44 with a fresh transfer (if I even make it that far)? I’m still feeling very low after my last failure (Fet) as I had made it to OTD without a bleed and took 3 separate PTs which off course were all BFNs. Sorry if this is a bit long. I’m just really in need of hope.

I'm so sorry for all you've been through, infertility is very cruel. It's not quite the same circumstances but I had my son at 42. I don't know if you're similar to me but when I was going through many failures prior to getting my son I found it helpful to plan that if I wasn't successful with my own eggs I would use donor eggs, not that that in any way takes away the pain, but it helped me to feel that one way or another I would be a Mum.

Wishing you all the very best luck, which you so deserve.

hello! What a traumatic experience you have had! I don’t have a success story as such but just wanted to say, we are the sane age. I will be 44 in August. I am currently pregnant (13 weeks) with an embryo from when I was 40! I did back to back cycles between 37-40 and banked embryos. There were cycles where we had total fertilisation failure and other cycles where they didn’t even get to day 3. So I after 7 years of ivf and cycles all I had to show for it was 6 embryos which we PGT tested froze, and then took a break so we could focus on other things! We both dis some really cool not for profit/charity projects (individually). Aside from normal work. We then did transfers and kept going until we got a BFP. Of the 6 embryos transfers and pgt tested I got pregnant twice. I suppose what I am saying is I don’t think it’s impossible at 44 but it won’t be easy. We did most of our testing and investigations early on during our embryo banking then when it came to transfers 3 years later it was pretty straightforward. My back up plan was donor eggs. Ironically, the day I went into the clinic for ny beta test (on my test day) before I left, I made my appointment with the egg donation team, paid the fee etc and 2 hours later the nurse called to say we had an HCG of 255! I didn’t cancel my appointment and if this doesn’t work out that my next move. We really want a family so are open to all options! Hope this helps!

Hi I'm just 41 had our first round of IVF back on February and had fresh transfer and I'm 16 weeks pregnant. I read lots of stories recently so please do give up your hope.

Hello Heidi…In 2020 I got pregnant on my own at 42, and had a miscarriage. My husband and I decided visit the local IVF clinic. We had some tests done, and my levels were good. After one round of IVF. Our doctor harvested five eggs and zero fertilized to day 5 embryos . We were then told, I was too old as I would be turning 43,’. My husband and I for our own personal reasons did not want to use donor eggs. And my doctor told me that I would never have a baby or be a mom without them. My Dr kept repeating “you eggs are old you will never be a mother unless you used a younger woman’s eggs.” She told my husband we were completely futile….Lots of tears.

I gave up all hope… but my husband did not…

Fast forward Two years, and my husband and I moved to Portland in the US. My job had good healthcare,So out of love for my husband … I tried IVF again, knowing my eggs were so old it was pointless.. My new doctor did tests on me, she informed me that if I had come to her at 42-43, I would’ve had babies by now. And now that I was 44 there was only about a 5 to 10% chance of it working. To me it might as well have well been zero%…So I started one IVF cycle. Ended up with 6 embryos, , my dr wanted to grow the embryos until day 3 and implant the 3 best looking ones … so we did , I found out I was pregnant after the first implantation. I have a frozen embryo in the cooler. And the most beautiful Little cherub of a baby boy. He is now 8 months old and the light of my life. FYI I use my own eggs, and found out I was pregnant right before my 45th birthday. Had I stayed with the first clinic / Dr … I would Never had a baby. I think the clinic and Dr is everything…wish you the best of luck. … Ps my child hood playmate who I haven’t seen in forever.. her mother met me at the grocery store and told me 44 year old daughter was expecting this past valentine day … I just sent her a shower gift she also had a perfect little boy. Also know of a loosely connected friend who went through round after round of IVF … little girl at 46! When I said to my OBGYN … “I must be your oldest patient “ he said “ no! I have a couple of 52 year olds moms that after years of trying IVF had a successfu round” and had baby number one , then cautioned my husband and myself that having a baby can “ re-set your body and cause you to get pregnant in your 50s! With baby number 2” so it’s hard yes!but not impossible.. sadly it’s just a numbers game, a lot of luck and hopefully a talented Dr❤️❤️❤️

hi! I had several rounds of IVF with a low .15 AMH so I knew it would be a challenge after already having 7 miscarriages on my own. All my day 5 embryos tested PGT abnormal chromosomes so last round I asked for a fresh day 3 transfer to not let grow to day 5 in lab. Finally transferred 3 fresh day 3 embryos, a poor 5-2-2, ok 7-2-2, and good compacting embryo, finally had a bfp and baby boy who is now almost 3! Just transferred 2 other frozen day 3 embryos a week ago and am in my TWW. Good luck!
