Just had a failed 3rd round and we had 14 eggs which resulted in one poor embryo which didn't work. Always been male factor but now they think my follicles are appearing the right size but eggs not reached maturity. Anyone had experience of this and what can we try?
Think we will have one last try.
I've always been on quite high dosage stims...this time 375 ovarleap and long protocol with buserilin.
Thank you xx

Hi sorry to hear this, I also had to eggs that were not mature on collection and the only thing the consultant mentioned was that it was probably due to my age and my eggs not being great….hopefully this is not your issue xx
Hello lovely. Sorry you’re going through all this stress. Could the clinic let you stim for a bit longer next time to see if that gets you more mature eggs? Or I’ve heard of clinics using a double trigger to help mature eggs?
As redsequin suggests, I would ask about a double trigger next time. I would also ask what size your follicles have been when they’ve been triggering. Normally they’ll trigger when you have few follicles at least 17-18 mm, but some women need to go a bit longer. Maybe the clinic could wait until you have a few at least 20-22 mm?
Have you had better success with egg maturity in previous cycles or is it always the same? xx
Thank you, I have had 2 previous with short first we got three top blasts (no implantation though) second no fertilisation but might switch back...see what they say.
Don't wanna suggest it if you've already read it but the book "it starts with the egg" helped me a lot when going through egg collection issues. Best of luck for the future x
Hello,I am so sorry your 3rd round was unsuccessful. I have the exact same problem so just wanted to say you are not alone. We are male factor but now we think there is a problem with my eggs. We always get plenty of eggs but not a great fertilisation rate and no blastocysts. Dr thinks it's an egg maturity issue which could be down to having low amh for my age. I have also tried 2 short protocols and now I'm trying long protocol just to see if it makes a difference. I usually start my stims at 300 and they are increased to 375 on day 6. However, this cycle we are trying not to increase the dosage, the nurse said sometimes it can be detrimental to egg quality, so we are aiming for fewer eggs but hopefully better quality. They have also postponed my egg collection by one day to give the eggs more time to grow. If this cycle fails we have been advised to consider adding Zomacton (human growth hormone) for one final go with my own eggs. Wishing you the best on your journey. xx
