Here is a link to eGFR information, and as pertains to age. This is information you can use to discuss with your Doctor. kidney.org/atoz/content/gfr

Hi there and welcome.

Whilst there is something going on with that eGFR at that age, it need not necessarily be CKD, nor anything sinister.

Firstly, eGFR is an estimate of kidney function, not an actual measure. The eGFR algorithm is based on creatinine, age, race. Change creatinine and eGFR follows suit directly. There are benign reasons for elevated creatinine (which then automatically results in lower eGFR). Hydration, heavy exercise, meat eating for example...

There is a time-based element to thing also, you need to be showing reduced function for 3 months before CKD comes into the frame. There can be injury that isn't CKD - for example, Covid is turning out to be causing kidney damage. And kidneys can recover from injury.

So, lots of unknowns. Your doc should be scheduling further bloods, say 3 months after these last ones. You make sure you hydrate well (but not over the top), inform your doc if you exercise a lot and avoid a series.of meat fest bbq's leading up to your next blood draw.

Try not to worry in the interim. Even if there is an issue, there is stuff you can do by way of diet to slow or halt CKD progression. It's hot off the press info this dietary approach, so not commonly known outside those who are informed (such as CKDers on this forum) So don't suppose it a killer disease just yet!

Let us know how you get on in any event.. all the best

SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOUR NUMBERS.PLEASE calm down, relax. Let's look at what you are thinking. First your "numbers". If you look at almost any lab blood work they will five you a range of numbers for what is considered normal for each part of the test. For egfr most all labs will report that anything 60 and above is NORMAL!!! Yours is 70. So you doctor certainly is not going to mention anything about it because it falls as NORMAL. BUT I am very confused about what you report. You say you are 44 years old. Your Creatinine level is 1.28. You are female. Then how did you get an egfr of 70???? On any common egfr calculator , 44, female, 1.28 mg/dl creatinine, your egfr would NOT be 70. It would MUCH lower. So something is not right in what you report.

You say your doctor did not mention anything. Next about egfr. MANY, MANY doctors, especially more and more lately have little faith in the calculation of egfr. The formula used is too all encompassing and does not take into ANY consideration what other health problems you have, what medications you take, in most cases ignores even your height and weight, But forgetting all that, any egfr above 60 is reported by most labs as NORMAL. So he/she would not say anything. A creatinine level of 1.28 is also reported as NORMAL.

Please take a look at your test results again. It clearly says your Creatinine level is 1.28, and your egfr is 70???????? This can't be right. I ran 3 different calculators based upon your age, sex, creatinine and not be 70.
