You will need your blood pressure checked ,creatinine, urinalysis, and GFR,

Bowler is right , The other tests the hospital will do to help them advise you on diet needs when you start getting towards the 20 - 25% function rate .

Yes Blood test and sometimes urine test they estimate how much blood may be lost in the urine also they check the protein level.

first test to do is Urine for microalbumin

if normal then urine routine

if normal then uric acid, urea, serum creatinine

if all are normal then if you like to know if in future you will get kidney problem then do Fetuin A test

A scan can also be done for polycystic kidney disease.

If you want a definitive GFR ie. not an egfr you need to pressure your renal consultant into getting you in for a Isotope GFR test at a participating hosptial. They are not normally used for most renal patients, I got one because my egfr number was constantly up and down so we could not plan for the next step without one.
