FLASHPOLL 2: What is the minimum level of... - Cure Parkinson's
FLASHPOLL 2: What is the minimum level of benefit to your PD for which you would be prepared to take an illegal recreational drug?
Please select one:
As much as i do not like Parkinson's Disease,, I would hate to be in jail and have Parkinson's Disease also.
Medical marijuana was okayed in my state. I am working to get an okay in my city for a dispensary. We can work to hasten the day that MM is available, prescribed clinically by a doctor. There are too many scare tactics about MM. People have used it illegally for years, as a family member does for Crohn's Disease. It's cruel, at this point to deny people with PD access to something that will be used as a medication.
I haven't smoked a joint since college, over 35 years ago, and worry about the strength of modern strains of cannabis. I would absolutely try it for sleep but would want it prescribed by someone knowledgeable about the strains being provided. If it helped with tremors and stiffness, too, that would be a bonus. I have friends who have been recreational users for many decades, still bright, active, contributing in huge ways, much of it volunteer. Certainly, for cancer patients it is the norm here, to use cannabis to help with the agonizing results of treatment. My neighbour has a license to grow medicinal pot in her basement and uses it to manage her MS. I can't tell when she is stoned but I sure can when she is needs a toke; her pain is so apparent. Bring it on, do the research, let's find out. Can it be worse than Requip?
WOULD TO LIKE THE LAW CHANGED
I haven't used Pot or Alcohol for 27 years,,, But i was stoned the 27 years prior to that,,, So i feel confident, Pot, if used in small amounts,, Couple tokes when needed,,, would have a great effect on my personal life with Parkinson's Disease. I'm not saying it would be ok for everyone,, But from the research i have done,, i would try it again,,, but,, only were it legal in Texas. Then again,, I could move to Colorado. LD
LMAO you've got to be kidding , you think they're going to throw you in jail for smoking weed......try smoking at home instead of town square ..
It's legal in my state so the point is moot.
In the US there is NO need to smoke marijuana. I have in my medical "arsenal" the drug Marinol which is a capsule with a standardized dose. It is covered 100% by my insurance, and since I can no longer drive, it isn't an issue. I'm often told (mostly by young people who are probably smoking marijuana on a recreational basis) that smoking pot doesn't impair a person's response time behind the wheel of a car, and that alcohol is *much* more dangerous. I don't agree at all. I had never smoked marijuana before and the first time I took the Marinol I was definitely "high". I can't imagine driving with it in my bloodstream! But it does help with my tremor, and helps a tiny bit with nausea from another condition. I don't really understand why people want to smoke it. I have asthma so smoking it wouldn't be an option for me. Maybe someone can explain why it would be preferable to smoke it?
How can anybody make any of these choices? If anybody has Pd and has not got any benefit from any Pd medication , then the decision to try recreational drugs would be a desperation decision. Anything short of a cure is a waste of time!
Well My opinion is wide spread on these pages but lest one forget let me refresh…A vaporizer and a concentrate high in THC makes PD for me livable with no side effects, withdrawals or any other anxieties. Most PD folks live in some kind of propagandized state of fear, Well I say be brave and stand up for your rights and do not believe the negative information that is disseminated on the subject of Cannabis or in impolite circles, Marijuana. An herb made by a higher power and used medically for thousands of years.
