Non Alcoholic Liver Disease

I was diagnosed with Non Alcoholic Liver Disease Cirrhosis. Am I allowed to drink any type of alcohol or not. I’ve never been much of a drinker. Special Occasions Only. Normally I would drink WKD. Is that still okay to drink or should I stop altogether?

I’d keep away from it. Alcohol places additional pressure on the liver- it’s essentially a poison which the liver has to make safe. Whilst it isn’t the cause of the damage to your liver, it won’t make life easier for your damaged liver.

Compare that to someone with advanced lung disease asking if an occasional cigar would be OK.

Avoid doing anything to stress your liver and it just might keep on working.

If you've got cirrhosis you'd be better staying away from alcohol altogether. You need to avoid stressing your liver to prevent your condition worsening - regardless of what caused it in the first place.

Although my wife didn’t drink, they always warned against it at this stage and in fact said, she would be removed from the transplant list if any sign of it.

My mum is the same but was advised not to drink as it will do more damage , definitely not worth it . Take care

No. You can't. You need to do whatever you can to protect your liver from now on.

Hey there. All doctors suggest not to drink alcohol if you have cirrhosis of the liver. With that being said, the National library of Medicine says the chance of maintaining a healthier liver with NAFLD as opposed to ALD is greater. Alcohol would only continue to aggravate the situation and symptoms . I don’t think you said what caused the liver disease. NA L D is caused by something. That would be important to know because that would need to be treated. What ever you do, live healthy, good diet, exercise, and no alcohol. All your bodies systems will function better. Don’t forget to stay positive and laugh from time to time. Increase those endorphins. God Bless.
