Got myself a BP measuring machine

I’m on Bisoprolol 5mg and just checked my blood pressure, it was around 100/64 which I’m led to believe is ok. My GP did say it was a “bit low” last time I saw him when deciding whether to increase the dose from 2.5mg to 5mg.

Drinking water will bring your BP up. I was told this once when in hospital and mine was low.

It’s my diastolic pressure that is close to 60, I’ve had different readings each time from 61 to 64. It’s around 100/62 on average.

My diastolic used to be 62, the same as my pulse. Now that I'm in constant AF, diastolic is in 70's. My BP has fortunately never been in the high range.

Before taking Bisoprolol my blood pressure was almost perfect. Now it’s come down a lot but is still in the healthy range. My heart rate has lowered which was the reason for taking it. I won’t be suggesting anymore dose increases.

You can manually add the information in the iPhone health app to keep track of it.

A couple of points for you.

Variations of 61-64 in diastolic resting blood pressure measurements are just normal variation. Larger variations than this are also quite normal.

Two months ago you said that you started taking Bisoprolol at 1.25mg per day because your resting heart rate was over 100bpm.

One month ago your resting HR was still reaching 100 bpm and your doctor doubled the dose to 2.5mg/day.

Today you say that you are now taking 5mg/day, so a further doubling in just a month, but you haven't said why you were prescribed this further increase.

Most people find that it takes time to adjust to new medication or changes in dose, so it is somewhat surprising that your dose has been increased fourfold in just two months.

Best wishes

Paul

At my last GP visit my heart rate was still 96 to 98. I suggested increasing it, he suggested the next dose up 3.75mg I suggested 5mg. He checked my blood pressure said it was “a bit low” then prescribed 5mg.

It’s early days yet but if I’m super relaxed and sitting down my heart rate is between 83 to 85 otherwise 86 or 87. If I’m feeling anxious it goes to 91.

I have set my Apple Watch to notify me whenever my heart rate goes above 100 while resting for 10 minutes. It hasn’t notified me of this since June 22nd.

hi I am on 5mg, but take it as 2.5mg twice a day on the advice of my cardiac nurse same with my ramapril 10mg but split 5mg.

Reasoning was that due to half life basically the drugs effectiveness there was gains to be had by splitting the dose, so that I was kept on a more even keel.

Love my Omron just slip it on, no tubes but started out with a Cazon seems to be reliable, found the results between the two very similar.

I take 1.25mg of bisoprolol daily and my blood pressure as we speak is 110/66. I also have bradycardia with a present pulse of 51bpm. I have no symptoms whatsoever from the slow heartbeat although I have been told that bradycardia for prolonged periods can cause HF. My diastolic has gone down to 60 on occasions which I feel is too low but the cardio seem okay as long as there are no symptoms. You really can not win so you need to rely on the medics opinion.

I am on 7.5mg which is causing all sorts of side effects. I would suggests you speak with your heart nurse thoroughly before deciding to increase. good luck
