Hello All,

I hope you are all well.

Is it possible to have a diagnosis of "Mild Coronary Artery Disease"?

If the answer is yes then what is the standard treatment for such a diagnosis?

Ali

I would say Aspirin and Statins.

Hello ChoochSiwsta,

Thank you for taking the time to reply

That's good news because I'm already on a low-dose of Asprin and a Statin.

Hello Thatwasunexpected,

Thank you for taking the to reply.

My cardiac nurse hinted that he thinks I am likely to have a mild CAD but just waiting for tests to confirm or rule it out. I won't go into the failed attempts at tests in the past.

I am already taking a statin and low-dose aspirin. Interesting point about aspirin. I will discuss this with my doctor when I get an appointment.

I have normal blood pressure.

I am struggling with diet changes. I tried to plant-based diet but couldn't stick to it.

I was running regularly but I stopped in October. I was advised to keep running but at low intensity but I'm too anxious to push my heart. I have been going out for a walk every day for the past week but feel anxious while out. I feel particularly anxious when I get home from my walk, and I've noticed my heart racing when I sit down after my walk. My heart rate hit 140 bpm a few minutes after I finished my walk and only dropped after I lay down for 10 mins. I've also been burping a lot whenever out walking too.

I don't know if these issues are caused by my anxiety or if they are cardiac-related.

was diagnosed with ‘mild’ ischaemic heart disease in 2020 after both CT angiogram and invasive angiogram.. asked Cardiologist if i could stop taking aspirin.. was told rather loudly’NO! you still have Coronary Artery Disease.. and if you have chest pain not relieved by gtn spray.. dial 999.. anyone can have a heart attack’also on 2 bp meds and 40mg simvastatin

I have CAD and was running with it, which is how it was discovered as I was getting breathless. I was put on aspirin and statin before they did angiograms (discovered I had a completely blocked RCA) and stents. I carried on running until I had the stents and then did rehab. And picked up running agsin and added in swimming. My heart rate used to peak at about 170 during my run but I wasn’t told to stop running, in fact it was encouraged. Now 2 years post stents plus meds, I’m back to running and my HR peaks at 140 when I run, and my recovery is quicker. So wait to see what the investigations show, take the meds and just do gentle jogging. Mild CAD is eminently treatable with meds plus lifestyle approaches - weight management, good diet, exercise and REDUCED STRESS.

Is it beta blockers that are limiting you to 140?

not allowed beta blockers as testing HR a bit low. It’s a sign I’ve got fitter.

I was diagnosed with mild calcification ( less than 20% in one area only) and no further invention necessary. However he did suggest a statin as I have strong family history of heart disease.

Hello elliebath,

Thank you for sharing the your experience. I am raking statins too.

Did you have any symptoms?

No, no adverse symptoms at all. I'm on Atorvastatin 20g.

I've read that some people say they get aches and pains, but I am 70 so I get a few of those anyway. 😄
