Hi me again, I've posted about Bisoprolol as recently been put on it for blood pressure, I've been on about a week 2.5, I take at night , I go from low to higher very quickly, yesterday when I took blood pressure in the morning, it was 89/58, then in evening 160/83 is this normal, does it wear off? not seeing cardiologist until December, so left a bit worried, can anyone give there take on this? is it ok, thank you. Don't think I could take anymore as sometimes quite low, pulse stays low even when blood pressure goes up?

Bisoprolol / Blood pressure
Why not talk to your GP.. I take low doses of Lisinopril (an ACE Inhibitor) and Bisoprolol. They have different actions which compliment each other.
How low is your low pulse?
Hi thanks for reply, I had to go private to see cardiologist in the end, as gp kept putting me on different medication, but they didn't agree with me, he then told me to stop all blood pressure ones for a week as had reaction to amlodipine, I was scared out my mind, had to beg to go on something else, ended up up on doxazosin prescribed by locum doctor, blood pressure was still high, so saw private consultant, used savings so.on bisoprolol 2.5 and don't see him till December, so I've not had good deal with GPS at moment, where we live we have to queue outside there door around 8am just to get phone appointment with someone not always doctor, any way that's my story, in answer to you question pulse can go to 57, usually stays around l low 60s, I just wonder should blood pressure change so much, it is usually under 120/80 most of day, but sometimes in low numbers 108/60 range, but then around tea time in 150 to160 over mid 80s. Felt better saying to someone.
I had issues with Amlodipine (a CCI - Calcium Channel Inhibitor) but not with Diltiazem (another CCI) so it is somewhat trial and error getting medication right.
Your pulse seems fine to me. My resting pulse hovers around the mid-fifties and probably goes into the forties when asleep.
Like Michael, I've had issues with Amlodipine. I've also been prescribed Doxazosin and that actually put my blood pressure up! Also like Michael, I was fine with Diltiazem.
We are all different so while we can advise of our own experiences, we are not able to provide absolute answers. It sounds like you need to refer what is happening to you back to your medical team. Hopefully the right medication for you will be found so you have less of a change in blood pressure throughout the day, though in my experience it does rise slightly.
By the way, resting pulse rates in the 50s and 60s are quite normal with Bisoprolol.
I hope things improve soon.

Hello Roban I’m also on Bisoprolol. I’ve found specalist nurses are the ones that alter my doses. My GP seems to take a back seat. I’ve just had my Bisoprolol increased and it takes a while to adjust.

Hi Chris did your blood pressure go from quite low to high? Seems to go up few hours before bisoprolol due next dose, plus I seem to go very cold at times, been on it a week now .
I take mine in the morning Robann I’m taking it since I was diagnosed with heart failure. My dose has just been increased and it makes me tired. Many people seem to split the dose. Can’t comment on that.
Hi. I was prescribed mine as 5mg at night and 5mg in the morning,I have since reduced the night time one to 2.5mg and still 5mg in the morning.Must admit I don't check my BP very often which is naughty as I am supposed to keep it at under 120, but when I do do it it is ok.
I had an aortic dissection and valve replacement, and since find my BP is lower in my right arm than my left arm (which I believe is normal for dissection sufferers).
As someone has said though we are all different and drugs affect us all differently.
Good luck.
Denise
I take mine at night for blood pressure , as I said before they had me on several different ones, but they didn't work out losing faith in it all now thanks for replying to me 😊
I have recently had consultation with clinical pharmacist within GP practice. Am on Amlodipine & Bisoprolol for HBP and ectopic beats/palpitations. My issues were I often get fluid retention (lower legs) and have gradually, since starting 3 years ago, put on a stone. I was taking meds at bedtime as they slow me down so much (resting heart can be 48!).
We agreed that I’d take the amlodipine in the morning and if no improvement in the fluid retention they’d change it.
Also they agreed my suggestion that I can try stopping the bisoprolol- I just want to reduce meds as much as possible (and am only taking 1.25mg) in the hope that my metabolic rate will increase. However, I find the bisoprolol works to reduce anxiety so I’m pretty much going to apply a watching brief.
I hope you get sorted. In my own experience, and from what I’ve read, blood pressure does vary: its lower at night when we are in bed eg.
