It can take a few weeks to absorb medicines into your system, you might want to give it a bit longer. Yes some drugs do not suit some people. But high BP can be a lot worse.Best wishes colin

If you have started taking bisoprolol you are likely to have all sorts of side effects. I'm surprised it's still on the market!

Did you say that it is Bisoprolol that you were taking? That is a Beta Blocker. I didn't see you saying that though.

The standard blood pressure tablets are Ramapril and Nosartan. Neither of those caused me any problems.

I wasn't initially prescribed Bisoprolol by the cardiac team doing my procedure, but the cardiac team from home did ask me to take them. I did find that they made me feel a little odd. Also the instructions advised that you probably should not take them if the heart rate is less than 60. Since mine was, the GP gave it a short trial on a low dose and when the heart rate dropped below 50 recommended I stay off them. Waiting for responses from the cardiac team as to whether they have a good reason for wanting the Bisoprolol.

Yeah I’m on bisoprolol 1.25 whilst I was in hospital as my bp was 220/114 and these seemed to work so sent me home with these only problems I’ve had is my eyes was so annoyin where I would have put my hand over my front of head n nod off ,, that has eased like it’s not hours just minutes at a time ,, n the falling asleep just can’t seem to keep awake at all this end of my 2nd week of been on them ,,

Oki I’ll keep that in mind my heart rate kept in the 70/80s

Oh bloody hell yeah it would be best to keep off if dropped to 50 that’s a bit scary that

Hopefully 🙏 they surely can find you something else n can’t want you on them but hope it all goes well for you :) x

Oki I’m glad it’s not just me do u mind me asking if got yours changed what did you switch to x

Qualipop in reply totigerjuz86

I didn't switch. I don't have high BP. It was simply the cocktail of drugs they put everyone on after a heart attack. My GP just stopped it immediately and didn't replace it. I am on a low dose diuretic and he thought that would be enough to keep my BP stable..

Ahh right I get you ,, oh bloody hell thought meant be weaned off like lower dosages ,, hope you feel ok in yourself and touch wood it keeps u stable x

Afraid not but remember everyone's different and what suits one doesn't suit everyone. There are alternatives.

There are other options to control bp. I'd speak to your doctor. Not all meds suit everyone.

I have drug resistant hypertension and take four different lots of pills for it. Bisoprolol among them I had tiredness and at one stage tried to get off them. I stuck with it and now my body has got used to it to some extent. Yes, I do fell sleepy sometimes, but I am ols so it might be normal :-) I have recently started Spironolactolone and that has been successful. I hope my kidneys are up to it!

Hi Since I have been on ramipril (about 2 years now) I noticed that I get more tired than usual. As this is the only side effect I just put up with it and tend to have an afternoon nap which helps.

Hey ,, okay so it sounds like a common side effect for these type of medications, I might have to just start a afternoon nap instead of tryna fight it n been out for the night ,, thank you means a lot :) x

I've been on bisoprolol 10mg and candesartan 32mg now since 2016. I was really sleepy at first but it soon improved as I got used to them. Persevere, it gets better!! 😊

I feel like this too, sleepy and no energy everyday also on bisoprolol 2.5mg a day. But as I’ve been on bisoprolol now since 2016 is it still worth asking the doctor if it can be changed?
