What do you mean by "up and down"? Everybody's varies through the day. Measuring repeatedly can cause stress, raised BP and even over thinking. What are your readings?

Have you reported the roller coaster BP readings to the GP or consultant? What does he/she say?

Please update us as you go on - when you're booked, if it was via phone or in person, what the doctor said, etc.

I have been on bisoprolol for about 4 years, it made me very tired at first, but now it’s much better, But with AF in general I find I have good and bad days, anxiety definitely doesn’t help and the difficult times we now live in doesn’t help either. Hope the doctor can help you good luck

On blood Pressure readings. I found my readings were and are quite alarmingly up and down. (Even nurses at doctor's surgeries seem to take just one reading that can lead to a person having unnecessarily high amounts of medication and waste of NHS funds.) However, the third reading taken is nearly always the lowest. Monday's readings:

11.05am - S162 -- D75 -- P62

11.11am - S138 -- D69 -- P55

11.16am - S129 -- D70 -- P56

---

9.45pm - S148 -- D75 -- P58

9.50pm - S136 -- D76 -- P55

9.57pm - S125 -- D67 -- P51

...At both sampling intervals, the second readings were significantly lower than the first readings, and the third readings were significantly lower than the first and the second readings. The similar trends were observed for morning diastolic BP (DBP) and evening systolic BP (SBP)/DBP.

BP can definitely vary a lot especially if you are worried! It's very sensitive to mood, e.g. the white coat effect. It take time to adjust to meds like Bisoprolol and ramipril and they can make you tired and a bit dizzy. The Beta Blockers are meant to slow you down! But GPs nd cardiologists can vary the dosage, timing and type of beta blocker to better suit individual patients.

I agree. I think you need to see your GP (or even better, consultant).

I fail to see any BP readings here that are strange or too high. They are all super normal and any health conscious person would love to have those readings.

A GP would find your concern strange.

GPs are not concerned about variations of 10mmHg per consecutive reading.

Readings of electronic and manual BP meters cannot be accurate.

The reason for this is that machine records the reading at the first pulse on the decreasing pressure.

If you have a pulse of 60 then there is a full second of decreasing pressure when the pulse can arrive. This pressure can vary by 10 points during this "wait".

The same applies for the diastolic reading.

The manual one is more accurate with consecutive readings but it also depends on your hearing.

My wife is a bit hard of hearing so she consistently gets her readings lower than I do.
