I have been taking Amlodipine since March. The doctor at the time said that they would cause swelling of the ankles. Well so far doesn’t appear to be so where else can fluid build up. I have noticed my bust has swollen is this possible?
Amlodipine: I have been taking... - British Heart Fou...
Amlodipine
I was on amlodopine and felt really good no side effects when about 4 months later noticed slight ankle swelling but then it got so bad i ended up with cellulitis. Keep an eye on those ankles and hopefully you don't get any side effects from this medication.
I was on Amlodipine for only two weeks and ended up with low leg ulcers and still got the scars now from the reaction to the tablets Brian
Swelling/edema can appear in parts of the body other than the ankles.. I never get swollen ankles. My edema always shows up in my breasts, stomach, arms and thighs. My ankles are totally thin!
I don’t know if my edema is caused by the 5 mg of amlodopine I take every day or some other drug.
But to answer part of your question- in my experience swollen breasts are a possible reaction to heart meds .
I don’t take heart medication well not yet anyway
Sorry, just assumed you were taking Amlodipine to lower blood pressure for a heart problem. I think of this drug as a heart medication.
I would refer your concerns to your GP. The issue with Amlodipine is water retention which usually shows in the ankles... it certainly did with me. Unfortunately it also affected my mental processes and I could not function properly, so it was added to my list of allergies.
Hi Tinker, I'd suggest talking to your GP too. I was on Amlodipine for a while but the Dr took me off as I had swollen ankles & was told that it was an indication that the med didn't suit me. good luck
I was on amlodipine 10mg for a few months with no issue and then my ankles started to swell quite badly, i was switched onto indapimide 2.5mg and seem to be ok with that but I guess time will tell
Hi Tinker, I've been taking Amlodipine for nearly 3 months, just noticed slight pitting oedema to my upper legs, nowhere else. It might be a little more individual and not any lower limb. Did you experience fatigue? I'm tired all the time😔
I too have noticed my left breast seems larger, very odd. I also get tingling in my left arm and spend a lot more time in the loo.
I have not noticed swollen ankles but am experiencing swelling in my feet which I never had before.
