Hi and happy Friday to you all. Looking for advice please diagnosed with biscupid aortic stenosis severe side of moderate apparently? I care for my 80 year old dad and also do just 12 hours week caring one to one for severely mental and physical disabled lady. My heart nurse and gp have suggested I go on sick while awaiting my results from stress test and mri as they don't f know what they dealing with at moment and quite rapid detoriation in one year gradient 36 to now 50. Not sure whether to operate sooner rather than later. So I have note for 4 weeks. I am 58. My boss has just rang and said not entitled to sick pay as below the threshold? And sent me form to complete to claim benefits? Didn't say which. I do get carers for dad. So he has really worried me now and added to my anxiety. Would anyone be able to advise? My emotions are all over shop at moment and I am finding this site invaluable. Many thanksx

You need to talk to someone like the CAB after the weekend. It would be useful if you have your employment contract to hand. You need to put yourself first for the time being. Let us know how you get on.

Hi and I hope this helps.... Google the Benefits section on gov.uk. You will see all the different benefits etc there and they also have a benefits calculator you can have a play with. I think that you should be applying for ESA or maybe because of your Carers Allow you could claim Income Support top up. If you live in an area that already has Universal Credit in place, you could have to go down that route. You will be eligible for Housing Benefit if you live in rented accommodation and also Council Tax Support from your local Council. A quick trip into the job centre will answer all of your questions and get you on the right track. I hope you get it all sorted out soon. Xxx

Morning winston61 thank you for your advice. I shall take a look and yes go down job centre. Note is for 4 weeks ( because of me lifting etc)until they decide whether to operate now or just keep eye on detoriation. I hoping to go back after decision ( trying to be positive lol) this waiting is awful. X

Fudge I work full time but on sick now I'm even entitled to income support top-up You ring your local call centre and apply over the phone If you work part time you can claim working tax credit over phone to I receive it now due to being off sick Google for your local phone numbers Once my sick pay finishes I will be able to claim Esa

New DLA claims stopped a number of years ago as PIP (Personal Independence Payment) was phased in.
