I was diagnosed four years ago with emphysema. I have had no symptoms. Six weeks ago I got the flu. It’s been a rough six weeks. Getting my breath back and my energy back. Now every morning I can’t breathe and have to use an inhaler. Never had to before. I’ve had a CAT scan of my lungs, and it has not changed in four years. so is this still part of the flu or am I always going to have trouble breathing in the morning. I still have a lot of phlegm in the morning also.

Flu won’t go away.
It might be a case of time will tell. Flu can really knock you for six as I had flu before my copd and it knocked me off my feet for a few months. Hope you get better soon chook 😉
It's been tough winter with coughs lingering after viruses, even in people without lung disease. If you've mucous, have u tried the " huffing technique, active cycle ofbreathing? Getting it up like this, cpl times a day, gives u some control back .details on aLuk website.
If themucous is thick, tell Yr gp & he may prescribe carbocysteine to help thin it,making it easier to get up.
Hopefully, things will settle down for u in the coming wks xxxxx
Might be wise to contact your gp, just in case you have a chest infection. If no appointments pop into Boots. To have a chat
The cold I had knocked me for six in the last four weeks. Only now coming back to normal. Still less energy than normal. Some of the infections going round at the moment are fierce. If in doubt, try to get it checked out by your GP.
Flu is a virus, but I believe for people like us it can turn into a bacterial infection, like pneumonia. I remember how draining of energy a bout of the flu was, even in your 20's, and before these lung problems got hold. Touch wood, haven't had flu for decades, and avoided Covid. If I'd caught that in 2020/21, I'd be in my box I think.
It could be the emphasema the only symptoms I have is the breathlessness
