Who’s taken Montelukaste? Do you have any side effects? Depression? Anxiety?
Montelukaste: Who’s taken Montelukaste... - Asthma Community ...
Montelukaste
I’ve been on it a few years now with no problems.
For me I had no side effects, but after a few months I stopped taking it as it did not help my asthma
I did, stopped taking it about 2 years ago ... it didn't really do anything for me
I've been on it for over 5 years with no side effects. If I run out and miss a dose or two my asthma deteriorates.
I have taking it for quite a while now with no problems
my son too k it when he was 12. He had bad neuropsychiatric and poor sleep side effects. It now states on the packet not to be given to kids with anxiety. It always said this in the US but not here in Uk. It made no difference to his asthma. It seems very individual as sone people it seems to help with no side effects.
hiya, I was prescribed it for a number of months, unfortunately I did not benefit from it, in terms of side effects it caused sleeplessness and made me feel agitated. The latter felt like a constant surge of adrenaline without any psychological triggers, want pleasant, however, not everyone will have side effects and I would not discourage you from using it
Hi. I've been on it for a few years now. I did wonder if it made me grumpy, so stopped it for a week but didn't notice any difference except a slight exacerbation of my asthma.
It seems very dependent on the person, their genetics, body chemistry etc. I took it and had insane nightmares, like psychadelic, I've never experienced anything like it so my doctor stopped it. But a lot of people do great on it-
this happened to me too. I had terrible nightmares so the doctor stopped it.

Same - I felt like I was actually hallucinating and living in the nightmare rather than dreaming. I also had really dark thoughts, and have never otherwise suffered any mental health issues. It was a shame because it worked really well for my asthma and skin but not worth the side effects.
Hi, I find it works well for my asthma but after about a year I started with quite dark and disturbing dreams, so as an experiment I've cut to taking it alternate days which has gradually cut the dreaming and so far the lungs are still working 😳
I have have been taking it for years with no issues
I was prescribed it in the UK for my asthma but felt it made no difference and I was suffering from insomnia and I'd say hallucinations. I do suffer with anxiety though and had read that seeing things could be anxiety, so whether the drug exacerbated things I'm not sure, but because it made no difference, I stopped it and the symptoms have stopped too.
Montelukast definitely suits some patients more than others. I have had two bouts of anxiety and depression in the past, linked to life events, and had some reservations about the side effects of Montelukast. Apart from vivid dreams, I haven't experienced any side effects and the treatment has definitely helped my symptoms.
I have had montelukaste on a few occasions and had no side effects.
I was on it for quite a while. Then I started with stomach issues. Had to stop it.
I take it just b.c. my doctor tells me to, even though I think it does nothing for me. I take it so that I do not sound confrontational and do not alienate the doctor against prescribing other stuff which I do believe works
I am hearing it works for others here, and biochemically it makes sense as a drug, just not as universally effective as, say, prednisone or inhaled steroids.
Hi Amarelinho!
Hope you're ok. I've been on Montelukast for the last 6 years. I take it at night, and it seems to help my chest no end!
I can't say I've had any side effects. I have depression, but I had that long b4 I started taking Montelukast! Hope you do well on it! ☺️
Hi there, I've been taking Montelukast for a few months now, since the summer. I have a history of anxiety (diagnosed with GAD) and depression. So no surprises that I was pretty anxious about starting on this medicine! Anyway, still not sure if it's helping but so far I have had absolutely no side effects. Hope that helps to reassure you that it may be worth giving it a go.
I did have weird dreams/poor sleep. I now take it in the morning rather than at night. All is now fine.
