Very anxious at the moment and wondering about them. I'm already on citalopram but have been for a very long time and not sure it's working any more.

Any one used beta-blockers for anxiety?
Hi, I took citalopram for quite a while and then I had a life changing event and they didn't work for me so the dr changed my tablets. I am now taking propanalol and dosulipin I'm still not sure if they are working? Have a chat with your GP and see what you both can come up with.
Take care
Hi there. Yeah I take propanolol for anxiety. They work pretty well for me. Hope u get some relief. K. Xx
I have a bit of fear of meds and was thinking about ask for propanelol how do they work for you do you still suffer from anxiety they were going to give me them for my blood pressure I take meds for this by the way but I did not fancy taking pills how do you get o with them, one of my fears is that I feel quite dizzy all of the time and did not fancy taken them if that was how they would make me feel worse thanks

Do they work if so how much and what do you take and when also may I ask how effective they are
Simply take them and find out. All meds affect different people in different ways. If you get them on prescription your GP will tell you how much to take and when.
I take 20-40mg 3 times a day. I adjust the dose depending on how im feeling. I still have anxiety. .....but for me they take away that jittery feeling that I have. ..like I'm trembling internally. Which made my throat tight and gave me chest pain. So for me, if these symptoms are lessened , it gives me less to worry about what's happening in my body. I tend to avoid social sutuations and only go out if I really have too. Hope this is of some help. Xx
Hi Neil.
The only thing I have been prescribed for my anxiety is Fluoxetine. Before I was diagnosed I was on Atenalol which I believe is a beta blocker, but I was put on different tabs when I suffered my heart failure. I have found the Fluoxetine very helpful but like most drugs it takes a while to be really effective.
