Health Anxiety

I have health anxiety but also have a health condition called Atrial Fibrillation. Although I am assured this will not kill me and I have had a scan so know my heart is structurally sound it still feeds my anxiety. There are moments where I feel so overwhelmed and scared by this condition that I don’t know what to do with myself. I am also very overweight but don’t understand why I can’t lose the weight when I know it would help my health!! I suppose I just wanted to share my experiences with others who may understand a little.

Hi Pingu I also have AF. I worry about it sometimes. If we take the Warfarin or similar we should be ok. The stress of worrying just makes it worse.You will be ok .

Hang in there. You can’t help but worry but hopefully the worry can get quieter through breathing exercises or meditation. Do you do any of those? It might help just to start decreasing the effect of the worry or the duration of it when it does come on. Hang in there! Anxiety is a struggle and def doesn’t help when there is health stuff, but you’ve identified it and that’s a plus in itself. Hugs.

Only just seen your post as don't come on too often. I have health anxiety and Paroxysmal AF as well. I meditate every day, or try to and do various relaxation exercises. I find slowing my breathing right down really helps, breathe out for slightly longer than in. It's called 7/11 breathing.At the mo my issue is sciatica and my HA really kicked in when I got numbness even though I know it's very common.

Losing weight is not at all straightforward is it.
