Prozac chest pain side effect

Has anybody ever had chest pain on prozac. I started on 10mg on 11.22.22. and my chest pain started immediately, say within 20 minutes or less. After a couple of days my doctor lowered my dose to 5mg. But I'm still having pain. Does anyone know if it goes away. I've been on every other ssri and snri and prozac is the only thing that's given me anything close to relief. I tend to be very suicidal. I thought about it being just a symptom of anxiety, but it literally happens right when I take it. I take it in the morning. And while I do suffer from anxiety, I never get panic attacks.

I also take lithium at night (prozac in am) and it immediatelyi get some reaction, either chest or stomach. Does this make sense?

Surprisingly, you sound less down in this post. Maybe the Prozac is helping. I took it briefly, and had some issues with it, but NOT chest pains. Why don't you ask your pharmacist what he thinks.

I have been. Isn't asking people here research. I have a master's in history., i know what im doing. Gathering evidence. There are always other avenues to try. And why would you assume I didn't ask my doctors. It's called doing your homework

interested in what you find out. I’ve been on Prozac a couple of times the first time was a few years ago a very low dose and currently for three months and started off very low again (5mg) as I have had bad reactions to other meds before. I was doing fine and we have started to bump up each month as my anxiety was still present and I’m having to take beta blockers every day almost still. I’m now at 20 mg. Today was the second time doing that dosage. I’m not sure if it’s due to the dosage or just a bad panic day because I had one of the worst panic attacks today including chest pain, which is different than most panic attacks normally just had a heavy feeling on my chest during an attack.

I started on 10mg and just went up to 20, and noticed some chest pain. The side effects sheet I got with the meds said chest pains can be a side effect. I’d check with your GP just to be sure it’s nothing else. It could be gastrointestinal, as some SSRIs can cause those issues.

I was on total 60 mg Prozac daily for almost 15 years and I never had chest pain. I took it with Lamotrigine, Atenelol, & Clonozapam. Definitely, stay on top of it with your doctor. If the chest pain happens right when you take it, maybe it’s your anxiety of it that is the cause?

I just saw that you take Lithium, too. Maybe check if there is info on the possible reaction of the two. Lithium is some tricky med sometime.

I’m glad that it’s helping you and sure hope you get it all squared away to stay on it. 🤗

Thanks for responding. I tend to be very sensitive to side effects. I also take with lamotrogine and klonopin. I asked my doctor about the combo with lithium too

never heard of this side effect before but also think all of our bodies respond so differently to all meds.

My daughter started on Prozac in May but it got increased starting in September and increased more in October. She has been getting chest pain weekly since September or October. Her last attack she said she couldn't breathe well and she has also described it as a knife in her chest. Dr. Appmt today said that she didn't think it was the prozac. I am skeptical. Especially after reading what people have posted here and on a different post I found. The only thing that is different for her is it happens at night and she takes the med in the morning so I am not sure what it is from for sure. Did you figure anything out for you?
