Anyone on here have experience with taking Lexapro?
Just started my 10mg lexapro(escitalopram) yesterday.
Just curious how it effected others.
So far for me Just lots of yawning, some light headed feelings.
No other side effects as of yet

Hi Jsteve36, I too am on Lexapro and have found it an excellent drugfor myself. No matter what medication we are put on, it takes time
for our brain to adjust to the dosage.
The thing I would recommend is not look for trouble by waiting for
a side effect. Your doctor put you on it with good intentions. Trust
in him as well as yourself. Give the medication at least 4-6 weeks in
order to get full benefits. Call your doctor if you have any concerns.
Otherwise, live and go forward with life. I wish for you the success
I have had being on it. xx
Agree with Agora1…been taking it 15 months. Helping with general anxiety. I have no side effects, except when I miss doses.
Each drug out there may not be for everyone, but when itworks, it's amazing. xx
Been taking it for 2 days, had a really bad panic attack last night and again at 1:30 this morning , talked to my doc today and was told to only take half for a while then work my way up to 10 mg
That's good advice by your doctor as you should always go byhis recommendation for you alone. 5 mg is a very low dosage
which will allow your brain to adapt to the medication.
It is also important that you try not to focus on the break throughs
it's normal and a part of the treatment in getting better.
Wishing you my best. We each are individuals and respond
accordingly. Keep in touch with your doctor. It's going to be
okay, give it time. xx
works for me too
I was on lexapro for around 13 years. I've been off for about a year now. The only side effects I remember were sexual side effects so I couldn't go above 20mg. It was great for my anxiety but it made me feel like I was just "existing". It was hard to enjoy things. It took the lows out so I felt stable, but the highs too like they were flattened. Finally, I got sick of it but nothing else stabilised me and I wound up hospitalized. I've since started Trintellix and it's helping but sometimes I wish I never left lexapro.
But remember everyone is different and its hard to judge everyone's experiences. But I know a lot of people who have been on it and I think it's a very good drug. One of the better ssri's. I've tried 5 of them.
I hope so too
