First time on any ssri ..finding it difficult to gauge how I feel. I seem really tired is that something anyone else has experienced it’s week 5 now. Good news is I can’t stand to drink any alcohol the taste is terrible so no drinking for 5 weeks either ( a good thing) is that normal?

I found citalopram useful but eventually had to change to venlafaxine I struggle to get much sleep I Don't think it's the venlafaxine that causing it as even with sleepers I struggle with sleep ! Always go with what you doctor recommends as he's best place to help ! Good luck all the best david

I stopped drinking on the SSRI I am taking too. I do partake sometimes but not even every other week. I think an SSRI should help you get on to the business of doing well but not make you feel drugged. 3/4 of feeling better is learning how to [fill in the blank]. It has been many years but that drug made me wired at first. I you tired at night or during the day? Maybe it is messing with REM just enough so you aren't aware.

I've been on citalopram for ten years and have no ill effects. I drink alcohol when and how much I want without effects. Sometimes I lay off the Celexa for a couple of weeks to let the 'ol brain receptors regroup (advice from a researcher that studies this). It does seem to be a bit more effective when I start back.

Haven't noticed taste effect. Just feel a bit 'out of it' and distant from reality. Low dose daily 10mg for me, mind you.
