I know when taking antidepressants they say you should not skip a dose but I don’t know why but I feel like about once a week my antidepressant causes more depression so I skip a dose and I feel better. Does anyone know an explanation for this ? It doesn’t make logical sense to me!
Thanks

Hi Jaco! i have skipped a dose or 2, in the past like you, and i have experienced this. While i was on medication, i always wanted to be independent of it. This brief break of my depression was short, but i cherished it. I think whats going on here is that people sometimes feel bad including myself, about being dependent on medication. This was my case and not sure 100% is yours, but for me i believe its just the mere act of knowing i missed the doses, are what caused the instant surge of well-being! For me, i missed 2 days worth. Even with the 2 days missed, medication levels pretty much remain the same and within range. This break however, doesn't necessarily mean you do not require medication! Continue to stay on your meds and have a talk about this experience with your Doctor. Be Well, Friend!
So it sounds like you’re saying it’s a placebo effect. It may be but I don’t mind being on medication so I’m not sure thats it. If it is though I’ll take it! It’s like a haze has been lifted! I’m seeing my psychiatrist next week and will discuss with him. Thanks for your reply
