Anxiety induced vomiting...

I'm new here... I've been dealing with anxiety induced vomiting for over a month now and my therapist said the only way to help this is to relax and control my anxiety using visualizations and other types of ways to eliminate stress and anxiety. Does anyone else have this problem and how do you manage in everyday life? Or if you used to have anxiety induce vomiting how have you overcome it? What advice could you give me moving forward with this situation? Even if you haven't been in this situation what would you recommend?

Hi alyciaanna, I've never had anxiety induced vomiting (and I always write by experience) by I have and do believe highly in visualization therapy. Does your therapist do visualization with you? It can be as comforting as it was when you were a little girl and someone read a story to you before bedtime. A peace and tranquility comes over you that is like nothing you've ever felt. I wouldn't doubt that it will work for your vomiting issue. Good Luck and let us know if that works for you. xx

i have a very young daughter as from just been about one year old when she got upset she would start to vomit. both mum and me had to be very quick to comfort her and calm her.

i guess you have to find a way of calming yourself.

Hello and welcome. I hope you find an answer here. I've had anxiety but not the vomiting thank God. First I would see my Doctor and see if there is something to take to eliminate the vomiting. If not I would try the pharmacist, also maybe an anti acid or mints / mint tea. If you keep trying you'll find something that will help. Of course working on the cause of your anxiety is the key. As soon as that's under control the vomiting will be gone. I would be highly motivated as I hate to vomit. I guess most people would feel the same. Come back and tell us what happens. Pam

I have suffered from anxiety induced vomiting for years. It only happens if there is a major event happening that has made my anxiety soar. I take Nexium for GERD which has helped. I changed from Effexor to Prozac and Bupropion in May and really had stomach issues. Stopping the Bupropion helped. I always have generalized anxiety but when it goes out of control and the panic attacks happen so does the vomiting. If you are vomiting a lot you may want to go to a GI doctor. I need to go again but have been putting it off.

I had/have GAD and would have episodes of retching and gagging like I was vomiting, but nothin would come out. It was all in my head. If I was in a stressful situation where I had to interact with people, I would junk about it and worry about gagging in front of them, and then it would happen. I would only do it once before the stressful event and once I was done, that was it.

I started taking Sertraline (Zoloft) and haven't had it since.

I've suffered with this for a very long time. There are two very good methods to stopping this, both have been immediately effective same-day. I would go on Amazon and find two products, both are intended for sailing purposes, but for anxiety induced vomiting I have found them extremely helpful. One is Sea Bands. They are like little sweatbands that sit on your wrists and have a plastic bead on the inside that presses on the nerve in your wrist that allows nausea to be felt, thus immediately reducing the feeling. For a stronger effect, I would purchase a Relief Band, which goes on one wrist and emits a small electrical pulse that feels like a small tickle and completely stops all nausea and vomiting immediately from it's instant disabling of the nerve. For situations where you just need it to stop, these are incredible ways to do that. I hope this helps
