Rosemary oil for hair loss.

Hi all, hope you are all good. For anyone interested I’ve been using rosemary oil for hair loss , my hair loss has eased , not stopped yet but only done about 10 treatments, my hair is glossy, softer and darker. I put it on my scalp with carrier oil and also lavender oil and also put it in my shampoo on every wash. So far I’m impressed.

That’s very interesting. My scalp can be quite itchy and I have thin hair. Thanks for sharing. X

My scalp always feels itchy if I've been out gardening.

I know how you feel there, seeing my hair fall out when washing it is upsetting. I mix the rosemary oil and lavender oil, about 3 to 4 drops into a carrier oil, I use aloe Vera oil , rub it in to my scalp and massage it for a bit , cover it and leave it on for an hour then wash out.I also put 3 drops in my shampoo every time I wash it and I’m going to make a rinse from rosemary tea and spray it on and leave it in.

~Great info Electricblue - thank you. I make my own herb tea, bottle it - drink it morning & evening to disguise taste of psyllium husk.I add many herbs to my brew, amongst them being a few sprigs of organic rosemary.

I wonder if taking internally as well as externally it would be an added bonus?

Will try & see what happens~

Hi, I haven’t looked into internally but it might. If you try it and it works let me know .

My grandmother had a good head of dark hair until she died, her secret was to was her hair annually, but it was brushed daily with an infusion of rosemary water,Her hair was much admired being long and lustrous.

That's interesting re your mother's hair Hatten. I remember someone where I worked trying not to wash hers, she said natural oils produced by the hair would clean it. I love this forum and the things that we find out.

Daft question but does it smell strongly of rosemary and lavender as I cant stand the smell of either? 😁

Hi, well I don’t have my sense of smell all the time so I don’t know, I haven’t had any one say anything.

hi,to what do you attribute the hair loss/thinning? i am on metoprolol and experienced some hair thinning . i looked up side effects for this drug & hair thinning is listed. when i mentioned this to my dermatologist he said if you look up side effects for any drug you will see all sorts of things listed included hair thinning.

Hi, my hair started thinning when I went on to blood thinners and flecainide and bisoprolol, it settled for a bit and then when I lowered my dose it started again.

youre saying lowering your dose INCREASED the thinning?

Hi, yes , I did question it with doctor and it can happen to some people.

Thanks for this - I'll give it a go. I have a vast and uncontrollably huge rosemary bush in my garden, so may use otc oil and rinse with homegrown rosemary tea.I may smell like the Sunday Roast Lamb Joint, but if it works it will be worth it!

Hi, I use aloe Vera oil but you can use almond oil or coconut or any other carrier oil.
