Hi all. I want to thank all those of you who replied to my post a couple of months ago after I was diagnosed with AF. Apart from the usual AF symptoms, I was suffering from frequent & severe 'bursting' sensations in the head which no one (not even the doctors) could identify. I changed the Bisoprolol back to Metoprolol with the consultant's approval but with no improvements.
After 4 visits to A&E and two admissions, ECGs, Ex rays and a referral for a double ablation, I was back on the cardio ward, when a new doctor arrived saying my brain shocks were almost certainly a result of over-medication and not the AF. So he told me to stop the Felodipine immediately and to continue with the Flecainide and Metoprolol. Within hours the head symptom stopped.
I've had to adjust the beta blockers by taking a fraction of the dose of Felodipine as my BP rose too high, and I'm still being monitored by my GP, but I feel SO grateful to that cardio doctor as he, among so many others including the consultant, spotted something so simple which put me back on my feet !
Thank you again to all pf you who offered advice and support when I was feeling so scared and isolated ; you gave me the courage to keep pushing for answers and it paid off. Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year.
Love Cat xx
