1 week after cryoablation-have had 3 episodes of about 5 hrs each and lots of ectopics-while remaining optimistic any tricks for telling the difference between them? the episodes are nothing like what I had experienced previously.

Hi missy, if you read the AFA fact sheet attached about recovering from an ablation, you will see it’s not unusual to experience both AF and/or Ectopics after an ablation. If you do not possess a Kardia monitor, the easiest thing to do is to feel your pulse. If it beats regularly around once a second but then misses a beat before the next one arrives (say 2 seconds) then that is an ectopic beat and they are considered harmless. However, if your heart beat is completely irregular then you are probably experiencing AF but it can only be accurately assessed by having an ECG or a Kardia. Try not to worry at this stage because the heart has not had a chance to heal yet which is why these rogue heartbeats are very common.....read this and all will be revealed!

Thanks Flapjack-feeling great and trying hard to not concentrate too hard on what is going on for a few weeks. Follow up tomorrow so will ask a bunch of questions as well. How are you feeling?
