Hi Cherjane, Yes I have a little bit of burping, but put that down the tablets or my diet more than anything. Nothing to worry about, if its causing acid reflux see your doctor Lansoprazole will see the acid off.

Cheers

Yes, if I took my Pradaxa (dabigatran) without any food, I would get burping and reflux. Asked my pharmacist, who got quite worried, and said I MUST take it with food, and that the reflux could be quite dangerous. Have not had any more problems since then.

After 15 months from diagnosis I linked the onset of AF with diet and digestives issues, namely, wind, burping, bloating, intestinal gurgling and diarrhoea. My GP had blood tests for IBS and Coeliac Disease all clear, although he did feel I was marginal IBS. Consulted a nutrionist who put me on a wide ranging diet on the FODMAPS ( best Google it) concept and I have now reduced the incidence of AF and am f3ling really well. Vagal nerve related.

Hi Cherjane,

Yes, I had big bouts of burping and indigestion in 2nd and 3rd weeks after ablation. I am only on statins and warfarin now so blamed it on the new nut and seed mixture I am having but then in just faded away and now in 5th week has completely gone. I remember somebody else mentioning this a few months ago.... she commented that the acid reflux was so bad at one point she thought it was her heart.

Let's hope it just passes.

This is quite normal as the vagus nerve serves both heart and stomach so what affects one affects the other. Some people have it some don't depending on if their AF is vagal related or not.

Hi Cherjane,

When I start with an AF attack (and yes I call it attack not an episode because of the violent symptoms it brings) I get a ridiculous amount of wind rattling around. So much so that everyone around me can here it it is so loud. It is a clear signal I am about to enter AF and I need to 'baton down the hatches ready for the onslaught'. When the AF attack goes so does the wind. Watch your diet and acid reflux if that is a consideration for you. Your vagal nerve needs gentle handling. Be well. Dee.

I just had a stomach bug for a couple of weeks and my arrhythmia got a lot worse. Woke up one morning, stomach was fine and the arrhythmia had gone back to normal.

You might also want to look into Hiatal Hernia+Atrial Fibrillation! Hope you find your solution.

Thank you for your replies. Maybe I should inform you all that I have Fibromyalgia with IBS. Acid reflux and the Afib. I take medication for the acid reflux everyday.

But I had another Afib attack.

So I believe it is stress related and generally after I have a FM flare-up.
