Disappointing News from CT and Clinical Trial

Well folks,

I went for my fourth dose in the Phase 1 clinical at Sarah Cannon Research this week and had first follow-up CT since treatment started. Met with Dr. prior to treatment and he shared the scan results which showed progression in liver and abdomen in general.

He strongly advised I needed to stop clinical and get started on a chemo regiment. I have appt with regular onco on Wednesday to get that scheduled. So disappointing but don’t want to stay in a Phase 1 that will not provide any benefit.

I have a lot of fluid retention and Lasix did not help it much. Also continued chronic fatigue.

Any advise on best chemo choice. He suggested a couple but will see what the recommendation is from my regular onco.

The journey continues. Fight on brothers.

Pmann, sending prayers for your healing. Not sure what trial you were in, but we are in Virginia and have been to Sarah Cannon center in Richmond for scans. I am assuming this is the same location of your trial. Wishing you a good response to upcoming treatments.

I was in a Phase 1 testing that looked at dose tolerance for a CAR T enhancement drug to be used in conjunction with Keytruda.

Decision based on CT results from 3/5 and 4/30 that showed new growth in tumors.

My clinical was in Nashville TN

From Ai

Keytruda (pembrolizumab) is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as immune checkpoint inhibitors. While Keytruda is primarily used to treat certain types of cancer, including melanoma, lung cancer, and Hodgkin lymphoma, it is not currently approved as a standard treatment for prostate cancer.

However, clinical trials and research studies are ongoing to investigate the effectiveness of Keytruda and other immune checkpoint inhibitors in treating prostate cancer, particularly in patients who have advanced or metastatic disease and have not responded to other treatments.

Keytruda works by targeting a protein called PD-1 (programmed cell death protein 1) on immune cells, which helps the immune system recognize and attack cancer cells. By blocking the PD-1 pathway, Keytruda can help activate the body's immune response against cancer cells.

It's essential for patients with prostate cancer to discuss treatment options with their healthcare provider, including participation in clinical trials if appropriate. While Keytruda may not be a standard treatment for prostate cancer at this time, ongoing research may lead to new treatment options in the future.

Note: So far, Keytruda worked for my Melanoma Lung Metastasis.

Glad it's "Well folks" and not "Well, that's all folks." I did 8 cycles Taxotere and now Xtandi for 6 and a half years. But that was for bones. You've done this a really long time. You've done Zytiga, so maybe chemo and Xtandi at the same time? Just throwing that out, I really am a know nothing. Hope your MO can put you on the right path. Chemo and Xtandi can both cause fatigue. I haven't had them both at the same time. But triple therapy is standard of care now? ADT plus chemo plus Zytiga (or Xtandi) for newly diagnosed. May work now? Maybe some else can weigh in on this.
