Adhd bp or both?

What now? Is it or isn't it? Wtf...Since yesterday I'm utterly confused.

Saw a new psychiatrist who changed my beloved Adhd to bipolar! I'm stunned.

In earnest now: I have a very tricky work situation, self-outed as whistleblower for H&S of patients, colleagues and myself 12/21, after 10m filed grievance, delays meant start of grievance proceedings 12/22 and 1w later suspension for alleged misconduct which a particular co-worker I had complained about was lying in wait for. Shambolic management means I remain suspended without investigation of misconduct allegations, "white-wash" investigation of grievance, all original leadership (private company delivering NHS services) left, case going to court for whistleblowing retaliation and disability discrimination but final hearing probably years from now because of covid backlog.

My reactions were mainly increased anxiety, mood swings, waking up well and positive, energetic 2h after Vyvanse, but dark cloud and no energy or motivation coming over me from midday til late evening. GP increased Venlafaxine to max dose whilst continuing Vyvanse 70mg. Fluctuations in mood rapid sometimes every few minutes. No change after increase of antidepressant. Now Venlafaxine will come down whilst Quetiapine goes in. Have posted on mood disorder forum for shared experiences of all things bipolar. Just felt had to tell you all because now best old friend says she knew it all along!

Weird. 🤔

Have you had something like this?

Not sure how I feel about it but it is as it is and I'll just run with it for now I guess.

Any comment welcome.

Oh and how to become a whistleblower? I thought Adhd did it (justice, moralist, rigid on principle, empathy, irritability, stress, emotions, impulse etc).

Signed

Hominid, puzzled.

(Wtfadhd I specifically would like one of your youthful refreshing wtf replies!)

Sounds like you’re having a ptsd reaction to the whistle blowing event…which is more likely if you have adhd.

Many psychiatrists are still not convinced adhd is a real thing…or if they do they don’t fully understand the varying presentations. Can you contact your old psychiatrist for advice?

The old one was private and currently lawyer expenses mean I have to restrict other outgoings so have decided to wait for the psychiatrist I have to be referred to with BPD on the NHS. If the drugs don't work I'll know. Thanks for asking.

And that's what I thought. I'm a bit reluctant using PTSD here because of the original meaning but clearly a situational, adverse, maladjustment reaction. In the end the treatment that works counts, not SO much the disorder in my case, although the benefits of the label for reasons of going to court are obvious. Ignoring stress in someone who turns out to have BP is probably aeen as worse than in one with ADHD at least in the eyes of non-medics. Not many people know of the milder forms BPD also incorporates. Btw the psychiatrist I had spoken with called yesterday afternoon to inquire if "everything was ok?" And if my GP had referred me to secondary care Psychiatry (where I will see another NHS funded psychiatrist who can - and will - review the diagnosis). I have a feeling he called for another reason. Perhaps he could see on the service app that I had been trying to change my follow up with him in 4w to one with another psychiatrist 🤭.Or he felt he had detected that I might complain etc. I had written a long muddled email that his impression that "she absolutely denied having a problem with communication" was wrong.
