TSH volatile over last 12 months 3.8-8.1. (Range 02.7-4.2). Taking the Levothyroxine (150mg) during the night to maximise effect. Doctor questioning how I am taking the dose and very perplexed why the volatility.
Feeling jaded at these levels.
After much searching I have just learned that no Iron Supplements should be taken within 4 hours of taking the levothyroxine. Also applies partially to Vitamin supplements I believe?
Interestingly when I changed taking the levthyroxine from 4am to 6am, (I take an iron supplement at 7am) the TSH went up from 3.8 to 6.2.
Will now take iron supplement & vitamins PM and action this change immediately and let you know the results. I am hopeful of an improvement.

Vit D, magnesium, calcium, iron and estrogen should all be four hours away from thyroid hormone. Other supplements at least two hours away.
Iron can block absorption of all sorts of things, so should be taken at least two hours away from everything except vit C. The vit C is important to take with iron to help absorb the iron.
