Why is the ANA + thing SO important?? (Pre referral!?)
SOooo nearly a month ago my thoracic consultant decided after my full history to test me for Lupus - because my lung problem didn't tick the boxes of anything else. I have nearly every single symptom on the list that doctors look at and many that aren't on, and Alopecia, Raynaud's which has been witnessed

How did you come to terms with your illness?
I was wondering if anyone could help me? I have been allergic to the sun for three years but whenever I returned home from holiday and spoke to a doctor I was never taken seriously, instead told I must be allergic to the sun lotions I was using or suffering from heat rash. I have spoken to te doctors

Is it ok to use St Johns Wort?
Hi Have been feeling a little bit down lately and thought that rather than go to my GP i would take some St Johns Wort. I picked up some today from Superdrug. There is no leaflet in it or information on the back of the packet which would make me think that this isnt safe for me given the specific drugs

Autoantibodies - i test positive for quite a few, was just wondering if this was true for other people?
Hi everyone, I'm new to this site, only been diagnosed this year, have been having really bad flare-ups for the last 9 months and am about to start Azathioprine. I am currently at university towards the end of a biomedical science degree and am really interested in the immunology side of it,

Natural Anti-depressants
Anyone have positive experience of taking natural anti-depressants.. Changed my thyroid meds a few times this year and became mildly depressed. Tried St Johns Wort with some result, gone on to Prozac for a few weeks which has stopped it, but have side affects. Love to hear of a natural product that works

What a difference a year makes
This all started a year ago with a really painful knee and finger joints and then a surprise positive ANA. The fatigue and other symptoms had always been there in bouts for years but had been put down to anaemia and flu. Now my christmas tree is sitting in the garden for my husband to bring in where

Diagnosis of lupus without positive ANA?
I have recently been diagnosed with a "lupus-like connective tissue disease" due to symptoms and a positive ANA test. My young daughter has very similar symptoms to myself, but although she has a high IgA (which may indicate inflammation, i believe) her ANA result is negative. Given the family

Hi. I have just collected my blood results from my GP for the last year to see how they have changed and the above result had come back in September. Will this result along with my weakly positive homogenised and speckled ANA, positive hughes test and arthritis get me that ever elusive Lupus diagnosis
