I've gotten into the sad habit of checking the cause of death of male celebrities who die in their 60s or 70s. I look hoping the cause isn't prostate cancer, but often it is. The latest, of course, are OJ Simpson and David Sanborn. I should stop doing this but I do it anyway, despite having a fairly good attitude about living in the moment. It does strike me that few outside the club of prostate cancer patients and survivors know or care that the disease is so common and cuts so many lives short. I'm not looking for Susan B. Komen-style marches in the streets, just a little education around this disease.

Yeah. My late wife used to call me the "dead or alive" guy. It's not just a morbid interest in cause of death (well, maybe a little). But a good obit is like a mini biography, and I often read about people I would never have heard or cared about otherwise.
