OCD with substance use disorder (SUD)

Anybody finding any help? Finished 4 weeks inpatient for alcoholism. OCD sends me right back to drinking.

Grace, I have had OCD since childhood. I drank myself into alcoholism by the time I was 26. I totally remember the struggle of staying sober the first few years facing OCD without alcohol. It is very hard, but I had come to that place where drinking didn't make things better any more anyway.

I have been sober many years now. It is possible. I have no magic advice. The tools of staying sober are the same for us as for all drinkers.

Ocd is tough like that but you have to remember that ocd can make your mind more scared of it then it really is. I find getting distracted by something helps like painting. It’s a tough ride but things will be okay.

Please consider online AA meetings until the pandemic is over. AA is a true lifeline.
