Physical Symptoms from OCD

Hi, I was wondering if OCD can give many physical sensations/urges? I constantly have bad headaches, feel like I’m going to throw up, numbness, and my head feels on fire. I feel like OCD has changed me and ‘made me crack,’ if that makes any sense. I also get ringing in the ears and constantly feel like I have to pop my ears and I’m either very emotional or feel no emotion at all. I have only been like this in the last few years and feel like I want the thoughts now, especially because of a horrible crime that occurred in my town last week. I love my boyfriend, but when I get like this I feel like I don’t. I just want to die..

Sorry no one has replied to this.

From what I understand, OCD is anxiety based. And when in the throes of an obsession, your body is responding to the dump of adrenaline that you’ve received. Some things I personally experience are tummy issues, headaches, nausea, and a feeling like I need to just take off running. What this is, and I’m not a doctor, is your body’s fight or flight. It’s thinking you are in immediate danger, so it’s riding itself of things it doesn’t need to survive. It’s crazy how our minds can cause this.

So long story short, it greatly affects people in a physical way. And it sucks!!!!

Hi,

I agree with Acb0010. Anxiety can definitely cause many of the symptoms you describe. If you read about fight or flight it will tell you some of the "why" your body is reacting this way. Professional fighters even experience this. I'm attaching a link to a video about other OCD sensations/urges as well—just in case you're experiencing those to. They can be very hard to talk about at first but are pretty common among Pure O's. Groinal Response youtube.com/watch?v=XQl6_Im...
