Obsession about paternity of my child

Hi all I have ocd for last 11 years ,my obsessions Keeps changing time to time and my latest obsession is killing me .lately I have developed an obsession that my children are not mine though my wife is very supportive asking me to go for DNA test ,still from my experience I know it won’t help much but for thus particular obsession I don’t want to try ERP because that would compel me to accept what if they are not my children and that is unacceptable to me.Any suggestions what should I do

OCD is OCD. There isn't any way to out-think it or out-flank it. If you want to give in to what OCD is asking, you can certainly do that, but it's going to turn out how OCD always turns out. OCD is never satisfied and the question is never answered with finality.

Is there a way that you can break down your fears into smaller steps to start approaching it? What is the fear behind your fear of paternity? Would you stop loving your kids because of this or stop loving your wife? Are there other things that would trigger a similar reaction? Would you stop loving your kids if they accidentally burned your house down? What if they did it on purpose? This fear can be attacked with ERP without starting with your end goal that seems impossible, but without knowing what your real fear is it is hard to work toward it in smaller steps.

Go for DNA testing and it is good that your wife is supportive. Whatever the truth may be,

you will have to accept it and move on. Being on the fence all the time is not acceptable either. God Bless you!

I have the same issue. I did a paternity test, it was positive but I still doubt because I am afraid the results were affected by the heat. I search all the time for researches related to dna in order to reassure that the results were accurate or i ask the company that I did the test to reassure me.
