We didn't get good news last when my husband seen the consultant..the consultant said my husband is on the the child push scale C and people on this level won't be with us in 12 months.a lot to process but what do we expect now in terms of my husbands health.

Was the TIPSS procedure mentioned again? That would potentially improve matters re. his repeated fluid build up and drains but could have the detrimental effect of possible Hepatic Encephalopathy. If there is no other intervention possible and the illness is deemed terminal you can hopefully access all sorts of support to make sure you both make the most of the rest of your life together. Thanks Katie no the liver stent won't be done his kidney function isn't good..its a lot to process at the minute for our family but we will do our best for him.the unknown is the biggest worry.

Hi Germans, did they talk about a palliative care referral? If not, ask for one. Your local hospice can help you all understand, come to terms wigg th h and manage the next stage in your husbands health.

For my mum it was increasing fluid which was drained. Reduced mobility and more sleeping. Eventually being unable to get out of bed, and then being awake less and less until she went. With my Dad it was the same but with periods of frantic activity and complete nonsense which I now believe was hepatic encephalopathy (HE). I

Both stayed at home with support from carers, community nurse, the GP, occupational health, the hospice, Marie Curie and the hospital night nursing team. My Dad went into the hospice and was there for longer Han expected due to their excellent care.

Hi Gweans, sorry to hear this it is alot to take in for you all so sending you lots of love ❤ Your consultant should refer your husband onto the pallative team, they will probably be in touch and will assess along the way, they can help with many things and you can access their support as a family. Pallative care really kicks in towards the last few weeks of life, the consultant should also pass on your husbands care to your gp and community nurse team and they will be monitoring your husband all the way. I think one of the important things is to discuss with your hubby what his wishes are and try and get the difficult topics covered, finances, will, power of attorney and his wishes for his end of life, would he prefer to be cared for at home or a hospice and I would urge you to because as health declines so will his ability to sort these for himself.

From personal experience with caring for my mum full time the community nurse team were fantastic, they were our daily guide my mum wasn't given long either after her last hospital visit but she lived for another 8 months and in her final 8 weeks we had the hospice at home team in and mum passed away peacefully at home. I am sorry, I don’t know all the background but Child P. C can change. My partner was decompensated, CPC and listed. He is now A and compensated. Investigate all options and engage in palliative but don’t give up hope.
