Is there a link to a list of UK Liothyronine brands available please?

I’ve just searched Helvella’s blogs and can only find a list of Levothyroxine brands available in the UK……. Is there a similar list for Liothyronine somewhere please that you can direct me to?

Also, are there any brands of Liothyronine that can prove problematic for some people (in the way that Teva can for instance),

And which brands of Liothyronine are mostly well tolerated?

Many thanks for your help.

My UK document has ALL thyroid hormone medicines in it.

Tablet, liquid and injection, T4 and T3.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - UK

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and also liothyronine available in the UK. Includes descriptions of tablet markings which allow identification. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, etc.

NHS options

20mcg tablets

Teva - lactose free - doesn’t contain mannitol so generally well tolerated

Loose in a pot

Mercury Pharma also loose in a pot

Morningside 20mcg, 10mcg and 5mcg

Tablets can be cut with scalpel or pill cutter

Roma capsules - lactose free

Can’t easily be split

Some people find they don’t work well

20mcg. 10mcg and 5mcg

My GP prescription is for tablets, so I can split but I’ve count of the number of times it has been changed to Roma capsules when pick up at chemist.

Thankyou SlowDragon for the information, much appreciated. So I think I will ask for Morningside to be prescribed at my appointment this afternoon as they come in 5, 10 and 20mcg and can be cut. I can ask, but I know it doesn’t mean to say I will get!

I started on Mercury

Changed to Morningside when they became available in 2018

Recently changed to Teva as I am dairy free since 2022.

Teva more difficult to cut (I take as 4 x 5mcg per day - cutting 20mcg into 1/4’s)
