Good morning lovely people. Quick question, can anyone recommend a good Vit B complex for my sister? She can’t swallow the Thorne brand. I know the powder tastes absolutely vile. Are Igennus Super B complex recommended? Thanking you 🙏

Igennus Super B contains Vit C and this affects the body's ability to use the B12 the supplement contains. B12 and Vit C should be taken 2 hours apart. This is why Thorne tends to be recommended.

I'm trialling Vitablossom Liposomal B Complex at the moment, it's a softgel so your sister might find that easier to swallow than a capsule. I can't yet say if it's as good as Thorne, my folate level has plummeted for some reason, I can't honestly say it's because the new supplement is not as good (it contains the same amount of methylfolate) because I have other things going on.

There are liquid versions of B Complex you take as drops - Metabolics, Biocare, Solgar plus others. You'd need to check the dose of each individual B vitamin to compare with Thorne. Remember that high dose B6 is not recommended, it's suggested to take no more than 10mg daily on a regular basis.

I have problems swallowing the Thorne capsules too so I still take the Igennus Super B with no problems as I can always supplement the B12 later with a sublingual (Jarrows) if I feel I need it. Most of the time I’ll forget and yet my B12 levels always come back more than halfway through the range. It’s a bit of a compromise but it works for me.

The Vitablossom Liposomal B Complex has worked equally as well as Thorne for me, however so did the cheaper Ingennus Super B with vit C which was recommended when I first joined the forum.

Do you know if there are vitamin B complex vitamins available that don’t include B12?

My lab work showed that my vitamin B12 was high so I stopped taking a multivitamin.

Recently someone recommended the app Cronometer so I downloaded it. When you enter what you eat, the app calculates the vitamins and minerals you are getting from your diet.

I’m gluten free so I avoid many processed foods and a consume very few empty calories.

I’ve been entering in my Cronometer diet diary for about a week and what I’m noticing is that I consistently get more than enough B12 but I rarely get the recommended daily amnts for the other 7 B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6, B7 and B9).

I’m planning on asking my doctor to run labs to test my micronutrients to see if it shows if I’m deficient in any of the B vitamins that the app shows I’m not getting enough of and I considering adding a B complex vitamin to my daily diet, but I really don’t need any additional B12. If there is a B complex vitamin that doesn’t contain B12 that would be awesome.
