I have been taking levothyroxine, amlodopine and venlafaxine for quite a while but in the last few months I feel so sleepy, brain foggy, forgetful, etc it’s awful
Why do I feel so spaced out all the time? - Thyroid UK
Why do I feel so spaced out all the time?
I suggest it is because you are undermedicated. Medication such as venlafaxine alter the way the gut works and can affect the absorption of levothyroxine so slightly higher doses are sometimes needed.
Slightly raised blood pressure can also be a symptom of hypothyroidism and under medication.
I would get recent thyroid blood results and post them on here and folks will give their opinion of whether you are undermedicated or what might help.
Thanks for your reply, I’ve had levothyroxine for bout 15 years now, I’ve always kept an eye on my results as opposed to just accepting the usual comment of ‘all normal’ from the doctors and I’m currently in range still. I was diagnosed this summer with fibromyalgia but I think I’ve had it for years so don’t think that’s any change in me, it’s just this feeling that comes over that feels like I’ve been drugged, it really getting me down cos I just hate the fuzzy feeling 🤷♀️
One characteristic of fibromyalgia is low Ft3. As a hypothyroid person who is symptomatic it is highly likely that your Ft3 is low. It could be undertreated hypo rather than fibro.
You need to check your blood results to see if your Ft3 is low in range as this may be the answer.
Thank you so much for reading and replying, I’m gonna look into that, thanks for the advice, really appreciate it 👍
I had the symptoms of chronic fatigue and fibro. Once my Ft3 got to 70% through range they disappeared.
Really, that’s interesting, definitely gonna look into it, did your own gp test for it and prescribe or did you have to go private?
