waiting for breast cancer index test results to see if continuing Anastrozole will help prevent recurrence. Diagnosed at age 60 w/IDC St1bn0

Oncoscore 33 so did 4 rounds of tc, radiation after lumpectomy. Did 18 mo of Tamoxifen and switched to Anastrozole due to liver changes and had gallbladder removed. I’m 4 1/3 yrs out from diagnosis. My tumor was aggressive so chemo helped reduce recurrence rate in first few year. Read Anastrozole helps majority of people in first 5 yrs but only small percentage are helped beyond that if tumor is ER+/PR+ and Her neu2-

Still at risk up to 20 yrs later of recurrence!

so much for 5 yrs and home free theory. Drats.

Wishing you all well. 💕🤗

Hi Twistedsis. I also have had breast cancer. I was stage 1 with aggressive also. I also scored high on the onco test. Like 40 something. I am prone to lumps. I’ve had many removed over the years from my foot, ears neck & same breast x 2 all not cancer until the last one 3rd in the same breast. The lumpectomy was done in March 2022. I presently have a ganglion lump on my right wrist. I also has 4 rounds of chemo & radiation. I’m on letrizole. I find this has aged me greatly with wrinkles which upsets me but heh I’m alive & presumably okay. I get hot flushes from the letrizole but grateful to have this to help ward off further cancer I will wish the best for you good luck & if recommended to continue your meds go with it for your benefit

Hi, I had mastectomy and 12 weeks of chemo in 2018, and have been on Anastrozole since. It will end when this prescription runs out. My oncologist said the same thing - that the protective benefits run out after 5 years. A family member told me she asked to stay on it a bit longer for her own peace of mind (she had hers 11-12 years ago) so I may ask about that. Good luck.

that’s a great idea. Yknow I've heard others also say they’ve been on for an extended time. Yes I’d like to also do that & after reading you indicate you plan to ask for this, I plan to as well. Thanks for the heads up. 👍
