is it possible that the same medication received from two different providers would not be the same?

I have recently returned from a 3 month stay in the southern United States and received my 300 mg Gabapentin from a provider there. I have now returned north and requested a script sent to my usual provider here,. Since using this new script my rls has begun to act up again.

This new script was written the same, 300 mg Gabapentin, but the pill itself has a different appearance. I am currently taking 600 mg 2 hours before bed and until now was having great success.

The gabapentin itself should be the same but sometimes excipients are added which might affect you or your previous ones might have had expedients that helped.. Ask the pharmacist. If you have any of the old ones bring one of them along.

For example gabapentin tablets contain corn starch, copovidone, poloxamer 407, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, talc, macrogol, polysorbate 80 while capsules contain lactose (as monohydrate).

Are they both generic and made by the same manufacturer?

I don’t have RLS but had a similar experience to you with a change of generic medication. I take Amitryptyline for corneal neuropathic pain and facial pain and it works well. And then it stopped working which coincided with starting a new pack of tablets. I checked the packet and it was a different manufacturer. The pharmacist said I must just be under more stress than before, but that was because of the pain! I had one more pack of the same tablets and, once I started those, the pain was minimised (thankfully) again.

Hello,

I found that a change of manufacturer of Gabapentin can make the tablet less effective. I always ask my pharmacist for the same brand of tablet.
