Hi Has any had any swallowing issues while reducing from prednisolone. That seems to be my latest annoying problem. It seems to be getting worse.

Hello, can you say a bit more about it? Is it with both liquids and solids? Is it all the time? Did it arrive suddenly or has it crept on? Any other symptoms with it? Any reflux or pain? Have you seen a doctor yet? Answers to those will help others reply I think.

Solids particularly. I have noticed it a bit in the past but it has become worse in the last few weeks.I did get severe muscle weakness from prednisolone which I have been recovering from.Just wondering if it's getting worse because of tapering. Nothing surprises me.Swallowing tablets is not good.Eating my lunch was rather alarming today.Yummy garlic prawns and rice.I chewed well as I have Stoma from a perforated bowel last year.

I would go to the doctor for sure. There are a number of causes of this and you need a diagnosis. It could be muscular but it could also be neurological, your thyroid, or some physical changes in your throat or oesophageal spasm. Stress can also cause it but you need an examination really.

I noticed that issue with steroid inhalers and bronchodilators for asthma. It seems to cause a type of spasm that comes and goes but makes swallowing sometime difficult. I did had a barium swallow for something else and nothing was seen. I was also seen by an ENT doc who looked down to my larynx with a tube in the office. I actually went to her for a sinus issue. That was normal too.

The part about asthma inhalers is in the literature but it might be only related to non steroid component.
