Arthritis wonder drug?

Hi guys.

I have chronic arthritis in my feet/ ankles. My left knee, back and wrists. I take neproxen and paracetamol, and wear BuTec 10 microg's, weekly. I went to the docs last month to say that the pills do not work anymore. I was referred onto a pain management clinic. They say stop taking them. They told me of a pill called Neoprofen.

I asked the GP about this and the gave Amitriptyline 30mg...Not sure why???

I've been taking it for 4 days. Not funny. I feel drowsy, The following morning I have one heck of an headache.. Surely this can't be right?

I'd like to ask, Is there a known wonder pill that will take away this horrid pain?

Thanks for reading

If only... Amitriptyline takes a while to adjust to.

No wonder drugs I am afraid , but the drug you have been given often helps but takes time to get used to. I can't take some of the tried and tested drugs so I use cream with pain killers it is hard when it is multi joint. Some people find Gabapentin works or herbal things, which can be expensive however tumeric is quite inexpensive and works for some but takes several months to feel the benefit.

Sadly no wonder pain medication. What type of arthritis do you have ?

From what I know a d I am not medically trained, that is quite a high dose of amitryptoline to start out on. I would expect to feel quite strange for a few days.

I was put on 150mg Amitriptyline straight off. I can't give much feedback on if it worked or not as I don't remember that year at all! My friend Vodka is the best pain killer but I've heard somewhere that it could also be addictive.

I have been on it for about 6 months for chronic nerve pain. I couldn't wake up like I would usually. Groggy all the time. Felt spaced out and thirsty. No difference to pain levels. Had a really bad time of it pain wise so went back to GP. Wanted to put me on stronger meds. We settled on me upping my dose of amitriptyline. Felt even more groggy and for longer. After about a week I stopped taking them. Didn't look up what might happen just stopping them. Paying the price now. Headache and nausea constantly now for over a week. Started on a plant based diet so fingers crossed. It seems like a fix all drug that just adds to the problems you already have. Desperately seeking a corrective chiropractor to help after watching a fella called Dr Bergmann on YouTube. He makes a lot of sense. UK GPs are only interested in masking symptoms! I want them to investigate the cause and remedy that.

The afore mentioned Dr also says a lot can be done for arthritis, check it out. I wish I could afford to pay him a visit.

I have been on Amitripline for 3 weeks for arthritis pain in my hands and body. Horrid at first but now take it at 7.30 at night asleep by 11.00 hasn't done much so far as still having to take painkillers as well but the sharpness of the pain has diminished a bit and l don't take as many painkillers as l did. Groggy in the morning but not as bad as it was at first. I am seriously thinking of trying cannabis tablets next.
