Endo help

hi all, hope you’re well.

I’m definitely repeating myself here (sorry), but looking for some reassurance 💛

As a back story, I’m 36, have endometriosis and 3 x failed rounds of ivf/icsi which includes 2 x transfers (top quality) and 4 pgta tested abnormal embryos. A recent MRI also shows fibroids, I also have a 2cm endometioma.

My fertility clinic have always told me my endo has nothing to do with my failed ivf and that it’s a numbers game and to just keep trying. I went to see a top Endo surgeon in London who has said that surgery will increase my chance of natural conception and after 3 x failed rounds it’s advisable to go ahead. They’ll also want to do a hysteroscopy and check my uterine lining as well as flush my tubes. They’ll also take biopsies for infection and test for ca125.

I decided to go ahead and am booked for surgery in a couple of weeks. I updated my fertility clinic and they sounded like they thought it was not the best route for my fertility and I should just do another round of ivf 😟

Im going to still go ahead with surgery as I know im in good hands. But I guess I was wondering this;

Has anyone had a laparoscopy for endo and it’s had a negative impact on fertility?

Has anyone had a laparoscopy for endo and fallen pregnant, naturally or with ivf?

thank you and sorry for my ramblings xx

Hey! I’ve had 3 laparoscopy’s. The first one was to remove 2 endometriomas, my clinic advised this ahead of egg collection as one especially was pretty big. I did get pregnant after this but unfortunately I became really ill with an infection and got sepsis and the pregnancy didn’t continue. Since then that caused me to have a tubo ovarian abscess which left a mess and they needed to remove a hydrosalpinx, which he said he just unstuck as it all came free and the fluid came out once he had unstuck everything. The endo doctor told me I would be in the best position I had ever been in to conceive and to try naturally for 6 months. After 4 I went to my clinic to start the ball rolling as it hadn’t happened, to which they told me I had a hydrosalpinx still. I then had to fight with the consultant who did the op to remove the tube. I’ve since had another 2 negative transfers. It’s an absolute minefield. You got completely conflicting views on both sides. After the op my amh had halved. Which is a risk that can happen after messing with your ovaries. I’ve got another round on the NHS. So im sure they will test this again as it can come up, or go down further. And I have since had 2 more surgeries. I honestly don’t feel like I’m ever going to get pregnant and have a baby and I’m convinced it’s due to my endo and the havoc it’s wreaked on my womb. But no one investigates properly. So who knows. I really hope it does the trick for you as it can for some people. And maybe it would have for me had it not been for the infection. Good luck with it all 🫶

Heya Booda, sorry to hear about this absolute rollercoaster you’ve been on! I think this is what I’m finding so hard and is causing me a lot of distress, the conflicting information!! Did you have an Endometrioma on both ovaries, and do you mind me asking what your amh was?

Mine is fairly low so I am super petrified it’ll make it worse. I managed 18 eggs and 6 blasts on my last round, but all were abnormal. So I’m hoping that I should still be able to yield a good’ish number of eggs but maybe better quality, I don’t know. 😟

I’m excited but so nervous for this surgery. It’s all so unfair this journey. You never know if you’re making things better or worse. Wishing you lots and lots of luck with your next round and please do let me know how it goes. Xxx
