Anyone had anything similar for endometriosis???

Hi apologies for the long rant ... I am due to have a hysteroscopy on wednesday next week with a endo biospy and a mirena cole inserted. I am going under GA and am now starting to get really nervous. Towards the end of last year I went to the doctors thinking that I was going through the menopause as I was exhausted and had irregular periods that were jelly like rather than bleeding but as I was only 46 my doctor requested that I get tested for fibroids. Was sent for scan and in the meantime i started getting pains in my lower abdomen on the right side. Went to docs and was told the scan had showed a small fibroid and that this was probably causing the pain so was referred to gyny. since then I have been to a & e twice first with suspected appendicitis and then again the fibroids. Blood counts showed high. Since then the pain is now on both sides of lower abdomen and a second scan has showed more fibroids have grown and endo thickness on my uterus. The past few days I have been in a lot of pain, stomach cramps, dizzy/faint and have been sick. Was told of docs to just increase the codiene. I also have a flasing in my left eye which have had checked out at optitions and everything fine so suggested it could be related to my hormones. All of this has happened within 7 months. I havent had a period since the end of Oct. Has anyone had anything similar? Could this all be endometriosis? xxxx

Hi. It could be yes. Sorry that you feel so unwell. You will know a bit more after the op. But it sounds like the main thing for the moment is to get on top of your symptoms. I hope you are okay get back to me with any questions or help if I can offer it. Elise x

Completely understand you. It’s very difficult. But I think the thing that all patients find it difficult to grasp is that not everyone presents in exactly the same way. For example I work in cardiology and I can have one patient who has been having chest pain when walking uphill for several months and one who’s pain started a week ago. Same intensity. Same diagnosis- angina.

So you see, it’s not always the time it takes (although that is a factor) but the symptoms that matter towards making a diagnosis or likely diagnosis. Then treatments will often be very similar.

I would say, to try and reassure you and perhaps turn it on it’s head and say that it’s good that you have been referred and treated so quickly. It took me 9 years to be diagnosed but because I recognised it in my daughter, it took 4 months. I hope that reassures you. I’m not always on here (off sick at moment and feel that I can give some time to people) but you can message me in here.

Take care. Elise. X
