Root canal while on Acalabrutinib

I am having a root canal in two weeks, and I wonder if I need to stop Acalabrutinib for 3 days before the treatment? any experience with that?

I wonder about this sort of thing also..There seems to be differences for individuals. Since I just had two major surgeries recently, and being off my acal the first one sent me into false readings of worsening lymphoma. Since that happened, the second surgery needed no breaks as my platelets and a couple other tests showed that I was fine staying on it. So I sure would like to know also why the big warnings of bleeding vs other things that can go wrong while off it. Since you will be off only a few days, you will likely be fine. HiMy consultant took me.off Acalabeutinib 4 days before and 6 days after. Plus started antibiotics 4 days before for 2 weeks.

Whenever I have any procedure my doctor tells me to stop Ibrutinib. That includes root canal treatment. Its best to ask how many days before and after. Even a colonoscopy. Anne uk

I continued taking Acalabrutinib and started Amoxicillin a day before my procedure. Everything went smoothly, though the dentist noted slightly more bleeding than usual. Thankfully, no additional measures were needed, and I felt perfectly fine throughout. After the procedure I had minor pain in the gums for a day and I took Tylenol before going to sleep.

And after the procedure do you remember for how many days you took the amoxicillin ?

I ask so much because I asked my Dentist and he told me to ask my hematologist and the hematologist told me to ask my dentist 😅

Note that according to the authors of this paper: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

it is recommended to hold ibrutinib for two days pre and post procedure.

However, I talked to two independent hematologists and both recommended continuing treatment. One of them explained to me the logic. A root canal is still a minor procedure, and if bleeding does happen, it is visible and easily accessible by the dentist.
