Colonoscopy

Hi new to this site but have valued information seen on here. I have asthma and last year had pneumonia so do not have the challenges that some of you wonderful people have . Unfortunately I have had I B S since a hysterectomy 12 years ago . Just as a precaution I have needed colonoscopy on two separate occasions , one clear one had polys removed. I too had profonol ( excuse the spelling ). It was painless. I met with my consultant and he explained the procedure . I was admitted after a day taking bowel prep, not nice but needed . I was given some very flattering shorts with the appropriate aperture for modesty and seen by an anaesthetist who examined my chest . Once given the all clear I walked to theatre and had the profonol into a catheter in my hand . Just drifted off and woke up in my bed. Hope this helps I too couldn’t face the thought of the live procedure although friends have said they were fine with little or no discomfort . Please don’t worry I’m sure you will be in the best of hands .

Welcome Geko and you’ve certainly had your challenges too. IBS is a horrible thing to have as my husband knows. It’s good to hear you’ve had successful colonoscopies and hoping you are keeping as well as possible. Xxx
