DepressionAnd Anxiety Suck!

It’s bad enough suffering from one or the other, but both??!! That’s a lot to put up with! Especially when you are going through storms and my Mine doesn’t know if it is depressed, anxious or attempting to cope. It’s unbelievable and you all understand how horrible it can be. I’ve been without meds since Oct and do to my ‘laziness’ I didn’t get set up with a new dr and now I have to wait until April! This is rough enough to go through without depression/anxiety and especially without being medicated! :’( Thanks for listening!

one thing i've found that helps is finding a hobby or meditation.

Thanks! I have been trying meditation and I haven’t been doing it lately. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Hi,

Thanks for sharing what you are going through right now.

Unfortunately depression and anxiety seem to be such common co-occurring mental health issues.

Since you have an appointment scheduled in April, I am wondering if you have considered organising some telehealth consultations with a doctor or a psychologist? My doctor does these and sends me an electronic script to my mobile phone. These have become so much more accessible since Covid-19 struck the world.

Here's another suggestion that has worked for me in the past. The idea is to do something for someone else, to get out of your own head for a while. As we know, when depression and/or anxiety is in residence, your own head can be a very bad place to be.

The act of reaching out and connecting with someone, is a moment of bravery that flies in the face of everything your negative thoughts want you to be doing.

You don't have to do anything really big. for example you ring someone up and ask how they are or offer to help someone with their home tasks or bring them a cup of tea or coffee. If that feels like too much for the moment, you can even do something for yourself as self-care.

Here's to hoping for better days ahead 🐈‍⬛

I’m not sure what Telehealth systems there are that are trustworthy and I’m sure they don’t take insurance so I’d have to pay for the visit and for the meds, but if I find one that is trustworthy, I’ve been tempted to go that route. Also thanks for the suggestions, you are right, it helps to get out of our own heads at times.
