First cardiologist appt, by phone, on 3rdAugust after AF diagnosis early May, taking bisoprolol 5mg & digoxin 125 mg, little or no side effects, no palpitations since diagnosis, occasional missed beats but could have had these previous but unnoticed them, don't know if I'm in NSR or not.

What questions should I put to the consultant

I had a phone call from my Cardiologist recently following a letter to schedule the date & time. He subsequently sent a letter to my GP confirming our discussion & copied to me. Essentially he confirmed that my medication was appropriate & that he would see me in clinic in about 6 months.

I was very glad that I had met him on about 6 occasions. It is so much easier if you know the caller.

If I were you I would prepare a list of your medication, & note any alteration in your condition to facilitate discussion about future treatment. It's all too easy to forget facts but helpful to have notes prepared.

Ask him what 'lifestyle changes' his patients have found helpful?

If you feel your pulse in your wrist or side of your neck you can easily tell if your are in NSR. Check for 30 seconds, ignore one missed beat. If it’s regular that’s NSR.

I'm in NSR then because I've never had any irregularities when I've checked my pulse which I do regularly, I wasn't sure if the meds just suppressed it and I couldn't tell occasionally I get what I think is a missed beat but maybe I had them before.

Now I feel my heartbeat more often maybe the meds do that or it's just the fact that I'm looking for it.

Went on a hike on Saturday in the Lakes and felt fine, was worried beforehand but all was OK.

Thks for the reply
